Hello!
The name is Nur Banu. I live in the U.S. I read a lot, even when I walk (hence the blog name) and I write a considerable amount as well. I draw. I enjoy taking photos. I love making people happy. Words in the English language interest me. I am trilingual. Radical honesty is a big part of my philosophical outlook on life. If I had to do one thing until I died, it would be owning a huge bookstore near the ocean, with an unlimited supply of tea.
Lots of strawberries and passion fruits <3

I like your sentences, it made me feel yes this describes me, too!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you(:
DeleteEspecially the part you described how you love books and tea (:
DeleteWhat exactly is it about Objectivism that draws you to it? Doesn't its self-interested and egoistic outlook conflict with your desire "to make people happy" and the altruistic nature of Islam?
ReplyDeleteI don't support all aspects of Objectivism as you mentioned - I should make that clear in the bio (thank you) – but I support the first two parts of the whole package. One, reality exists as an absolute independent of what we think or feel, and two, reason is how we perceive reality. She goes on to say that man's only purpose in life is to be happy himself, which I don't agree with, but if you read The Fountainhead, I really admired Howard Roarke's independence and determination in sticking with what he believed and standing up against the world which was trying to crush him. And I am not a supporter of full-flethched laissez-faire capitalism because with the mindset the society has right now, it would be completely disastrous. Perhaps if we were angels it would work in our best interest, but I highly doubt it would ever work with humans.
DeleteOkay. That makes a lot more sense. I just couldn't reconcile the idea of a person with your belief system declaring that their life philosophy followed Objectivism. And yes -- I think you should clarify that as it could lead to misconceptions.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear, and thank you again!
